Staff Sgt. Roberto Andrade Jr., 26, was born and raised in Phoenix Arizona. Roberto was an exceptional student and athlete. He enjoyed playing soccer, football and basketball. He had a soft-spoken authority as well as the respect of his peers and superiors. When asked to describe him, most people mention his captivating smile. He moved to Chicago, Illinois and that is where he decided to join the military in 2001. Roberto served 3 tours of duty in Iraq. He had a great compassion for the Iraqi people and was outstanding at his job. He was just weeks away from coming home for good when he was killed in Baghdad when an improvised explosive device struck his vehicle. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 66th Armor, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, based at Fort Hood, Texas. He was buried at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ.
