Spc. James E. Dutton

Spc. James E. Dutton, 25, of Checotah, Okla., died March 31, in Logar province, Afghanistan. Dutton was assigned to the 125th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas. James grew up in Weleetka graduating from Weleetka High School in 2006. After joining the military he graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, Dutton studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values and physical fitness. He received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training. Also, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
