Sgt. Bret D. Isenhower, 26, of Lamar, Okla., died Sept. 9 in Paktia, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 279 Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Oklahoma National Guard, Tulsa, Okla.He graduated from Seminole High School and joined the Oklahoma National Guard three years later. He was promoted to sergeant in March and was a fire team leader in an infantry platoon. Sgt Isenhower was deployed in Iraq in 2007. His most recent deployment was his second.
