Pfc. Douglas L. Cordo, 20, of Kingston, N.Y., died Aug. 19 in Zabul, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Doug is a 2009 graduate of Kingston High School where he partciapated in junior varsity football. He joined the United States Army in March of 2010. He leaves his mother and stepfather, Tracy Litts Karson and Christopher Karson, his father, Douglas Cordo, and a halfsister, Krystal Cordo, among others.
