Pfc. Brandon S. Mullins, 21, of Owensboro, Ky., died Aug. 25 in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, Alaska. He joined the Army in February 2010 and served as an infantryman. He graduated from basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia and arrived in Alaska in June 2010. His 4,000-Soldier brigade deployed to Afghanistan in April 2011 for a one-year tour in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He leaves his parents, Thomas and Catherine Mullins, a brother, PFC Shaun E. Mullins, and a sister, Bethany R. Mullins. Owensboro Memorial Gardens
