Sgt Sherwood R. Baker

Died: April 26, 2024 – Baghdad, Iraq
Sgt. Baker was assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 103rd Armor Regiment, Army National Guard, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania. He was killed by a large explosion while performing site security in Baghdad. When Sher was a toddler, he was already living in his third home. Adults had failed him all through his short life. He graduated in 1991 from Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and King’s College, class of 1995. He had great empathy for those less fortunate and was a caseworker for the mentally disabled. He received the Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal with M/Device, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Weapons Qualification Badge (M16-Sharpshooter) with Grenade Bar.
