Sgt. Jeffrey William Jordan
Birth: February 15, 1988 in Floyd County, Georgia
Death: June 4, 2009 in Kapisa, Afghanistan
Sgt. Jeffrey W. Jordan of Cave Spring, Georgia attended Model High School and Armuchee High School. He enlisted in the Georgia National Guard in 2006. Jeffrey’s sense of protection and his desire to provide for his family led him to join. And much of that influence came from his grandfather, Clarence White, who he referred to as Paw Paw. It was his grandfather that taught him how to work on cars, and Jeffrey could change a tire as early as eight years old. He also became a good mechanic. He met is future wife, Lacey, at a party and couldn’t wait to tell his family about her. He called her his Barbie Doll, and three months later the couple were married. When they discovered that they would be having a baby, he cried from shear happiness. He was intelligent, ambitious and thoughtful and was always worried about his family. In civilian life he was employed at the Floyd County Prison. Jeff was killed at age 21 along with two other soldiers in an attack by Taliban militants while serving in Afghanistan. Jeffrey leaves behind a wife and a one year old son, 2 brothers, Robert and J.R.; and a sister Candice among others. He is the son of Mary Lou White Dowdy and Tracy Lorin Dowdy.

My cousin was a great young man that loved his family and his country. We all loved him very much! I too served in Iraq in 04 thru 05 and I know what its like to fight for this country. We will never forget Jeffery and his amazing sacrifice for this country!

I wish to express my deepest sympathy to the friends and family of Jeffrey. I have a son, Michael, in the US Marine Corps who returned from Afghanistan on the same day that Jeffrey returned to God. May he rest in peace and may you and yours find solace in God’s unending love.
Thank you Jeffrey for your sacrifice!
