Died: November 13, 2010 in Kandahar, Afghanistan

Spc. Jacob C. Carroll of Archdale, North Carolina graduated in 2008 from Trinity High School where he participated on the football team. Jake joined the United States Army in January of 2009 arriving at Fort Campbell June of 2009. His awards and decorations include, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon; and Parachutists Badge. He leaves his mother and stepfather, Cole and William Masear, his father, Jackie C. Carroll and Angela Puckett, two sisters Meredith Carroll, Hallie Carroll, two stepsisters Brittany Masear and Alexa Masear. He died at age 20 in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, when a suicide bomber detonated a vest bomb and struck his unit.

    The family requests that memorials be given to the Jake Carroll Memorial Fund, c/o First Citizens Bank, 11613 N. Main Street, Archdale, NC 27263, or any First Citizens branch. This fund will be used to support Jake’s fellow soldiers of Bravo Company, 2/502 Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) serving in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.
