Spc. Eduardo Sosa Silva

Death: June 9, 2009 in Bagram, Afghanistan
Spc. Eduardo S. Silva of Greenfield, California attended Vista Verde Middle School where he played the drums in the school band. He graduated from Greenfield High School in 2002. Eduardo was an incredible young man who was well admired by at least one former teacher. When she trying to think of a name for her unborn child, she recalled her best students. When the time came, she named her new son after Eduardo. Eduardo thought joining the military would be good for him so on August 2006 he entered the Army. He graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina then arriving at Fort Campbell in July 2008 where he served as a food service specialist. Eduardo was then deployed with the 159 Aviation Brigade in November 2008. His awards and decorations include, Army Commendation Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Iraqi Campaign Medal; Korean Defense Medal; Army Service Ribbon; and Weapons Qualification: M4-rifle, expert. Edwardo is survived by his wife, Rosalinda Silva; and parents, Sara and Eduardo Silva. He died at age 25 at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, of a non-combat related incident.
