Spc David Lee Rice

Spc. David L. Rice of Sioux City, Iowa was a 2001 graduate of Sioux City East High School. He enlisted in the Army before he graduated from high school and went to basic training in June of that year. He was serving his second tour in Iraq and was scheduled to return home on leave May 12. He was to have gotten out of the Army in June but had his tour extended. He died at age 22 in Balad, Iraq, from injuries sustained in Muqdadiyah (Mook-da-dee-yah), Iraq when the vehicle he was traveling in rolled over.
