Death: May 4, 2006 in Baghdad, Iraq

Spc. Bryan L. Quinton of Sand Springs, Okla believed in what he was doing, and he was well-regarded and held in high esteem by everyone who was a born-again Christian and a member of the Open Door Fellowship Church in Sapulpa. He would call the church during service and speak to the congregation on the church sound system so the they could hear his voice from Iraq. In one incident, Quinton was manning a machine gun in a firefight against insurgents. At that point in the barrage of bullets, a little Iraqi girl walked into the line of fire. Quinton stopped firing his gun, at his own risk, to make sure the child was safe. His wife, Cyndi, was presented with a variety of medals awarded to her husband, among them the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Good Conduct and the Combat Action awards. In addition to his wife,Cindi, he is survived by a daughter, Piper, a son, Connor, parents, Tim and Kristi Quinton; and brothers Brent and Garth. He was 24.
