Sgt Lea Robert Mills
Born: July 1, 1984 in Tampa, Florida
Died: April 28, 2006 in Al Anbar, Iraq
Sgt. Lea R. Mills of Brooksville, Florida spent his summer vacations on the Coast as he grew up, working on a charter boat with his uncle Tom, and went to the stockyards in Lucedale with his grandfather, and fished at the community pier in Ocean Springs and enjoyed all the wonderful things of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He grew up in Masaryktown, Florida and was a 2002 graduate of Hernando High School. He married his high school sweetheart, his soulmate, Keesha Mills. He always dreamed of being in the military, particularly the Marine Corps. He advanced in rank quickly and received many honors, training with the amphibious assault vehicles and became a leader. Lea was always kind of cocky, but everyone loved that about him. He pushed the hardest to be the best. That was very important to him. Whatever he did, he gave 100 percent so he could be the best at it. He loved the Marine Corps and he loved his Marine buddies tremendously. Lea was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Leamon Parker and Bob Mills. Survivors include his parents, Delores and Rob Mills; his brother, Parker; grandmothers, Peggy Parker Blanchard, and Marie Mills. Lea died at age 21 while performing his duty as a Marine.

I miss you with all my heart Learoy. You are one of the finest men I ever knew. Sometimes I wake up in the morning and for some reason you are in my head…and I start praying. After being your roomate for almost two years in Oki, I learned that no matter where you come from you can always meet someone who will be closer than family. I’m going back overthere sometime in June. To honor your name and hopefully die fighting like you did brother. Love…Danny
