Sgt. John P. Huling of West Chester, Ohio died at age 25 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 7th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif. Known best as, J.P., he attended St. Michael School in Sharonville before continuing his private Catholic school education at Moeller in Montgomery. JP enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2006. He deployed to Iraq in 2007. He was serving his second tour of duty. He re-enlisted after serving in Iraq. His awards include the Purple Heart, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Iraq Campaign Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
