Sgt Grant Arthur Wichmann

Sgt. Grant A. Wichmann of Golden, Colorado joined the Army in September 2007 and married his girlfriend, Michelle after basic training in December 2007. Grant was a graduate of Golden High School and he enjoyed Snowboarding, Soccer, and various other sports. In addition, he was an accomplished guitarist. His Awards and Decorations include, The Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, The Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon and the Expert Infantry Badge, the Army Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, and Bronze Star. He leaves his wife, Michelle, a son, Koston, who was born in June of 2009 just after he was deployed to Afghanistan, his parents, Robert E. and Lenora E. Noland Wichmann and a brother, Keith. He died at age 27 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C., of wounds sustained March 12 when enemy forces attacked his unit using small arms fire at Out Post Bari Alai, Afghanistan.
