Sgt 1st Class Daniel Adrian Suplee

Sgt. 1st Class Daniel A. Suplee of Lakeland, Florida is a 1984 graduate of Broadneck High School. Growing up, Dan spent much of his youth involved in Revolutionary War re-enactment groups, including Ferguson’s Company and Dorsey’s Artillery. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, sailing, playing guitars, dancing, horseback riding, carpentry, model building, bicycle riding, video games, billiards, card playing and gem faceting. His military career in the Army and the Army National Guard spanned 19 years earning himself a Bronze Star for exemplary service in a combat zone while in Afghanistan. In addition to his military achievements, he also worked for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency for the Department of Homeland Security in Washington, D.C., and the Tampa, Florida area. While deployed to Afghanistan, he was serving as convoy escort in the evacuation of wounded soldiers, when he was wounded on April 1 2006. Hospitalized for his injuries and moved back to the states for treatment, Daniel had been making progress in regaining speech. In spite of that progress, he died four months later at age 39 at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, Florida. The son of Mary Dahl Suplee and the late Charles “Pete” Suplee, also leaves his wife, Bernadine, two children, Benjamin and Jennifer, three sisters, Victoria, Christianne and Mary, three brothers, Andrew, Frederic and Paul. He was preceded by his father and a brother, Brian Suplee.
