Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Robert Brevard
Sgt. 1st Class Christopher R. Brevard of Wasilla, grew up in Tucson, Arizona before he moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 1991 when his father relocated from Davis Montham Air Force Base. He graduated in 1994 from Dimond High School, where he was a member of JROTC and joined the Army in August 1995. Chris was a daredevil who loved motorcycles and skydiving and often spent his weekends four-wheeling or snowmachining with his family. He was a fun-loving man, who loved baseball, was an avid outdoorsman and an expert handyman who rebuilt two Volkswagen Beetles and often lent his skills to friends. As a young boy, he enjoyed airplane-model building. In 1997 he married, Amber and the birth of their first daughter was later that same year. Chris He attended motorcycle mechanic school in Phoenix during a brief break from military service, but soon re-enlisted and a second daughter was born in 1999. He completed Jumpmaster school in 2005 and was selected as the Enlisted Honor Graduate in 2006 at the Ranger training course. He was deployed to Iraq in October of 2006 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Above all else, he was a father who treasured his two daughters. Chris was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal. He died at age 31 while deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
