PFC Jonathon Michael Dean Hostetter

Died: August 23, 2013 in Haft Asiab, Afghanistan

Pfc. Jonathon Michael Dean Hostetter, 20, of Milan, Mo., died Aug. 23 in Haft Asiab, Afghanistan, from wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device during combat operations.  He was assigned to 2nd Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade, White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. Jonathon was a 2011 graduate of Linn County R-1 School. While in school he received many awards and accomplishments including: KMZU Dream Team for two years; All Conference in Basketball for 3 years; All District in Basketball for 2 years; made the NEMO Basketball All Star team, the Linn County Leader Dream team for 3 years, and the Sports Writers’ District team. Jonathan also made All Conference and All District Baseball for several years and was awarded at his High School Graduation the U.S. Army Athletic Excellence Award. During school he was in Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He loved Basketball, Swimming, and enjoyed singing, and being around people. He loved to cook and entertain his friends and family hosting B-B-Q’s. Jon was a member of the Milan Christian Church. White Oak Cemetery
