Born: July 3, 1986 in Dallas, Texas
Died: November 27, 2010 in Wardak, Afghanistan

Pfc. Devon J. Harris of Mesquite, Texas is a 2004 graduate of Skyline High School. He joined the Army in August of 2009 arriving at Fort Polk the following December. In October of 2010, he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Among his Awards are, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon. Devon was an active member of Southern Hills Church of Christ. He played the violin and wanted to become a history teacher. Even before serving his country, he was serving his community by volunteering at his church and other areas. He leaves mother, Sorainya Harris, his father and stepmother, Tennyson and Felicia Harris, brothers, Christopher, David, and stepbrother, Michael, sisters, including his twin Ashley, Tiffany and Monica and stepsister, Stephanie. He died at age 24 in Wardak province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with a rocket-propelled grenade.
