Pfc Zachary S. Salmon

Died: January 12, 2011 in Kunar, Afghanistan
Pfc. Zachary S. Salmon of Harrison, Ohio is a 2008 graduate of Pigeon Forge High School. He grew up in Ohio, moving to Tennessee as a teenager. After graduating he returned to the Tri-State and spent a year living in Hebron, Kentucky. Zach joined the Army in March of 2010 arriving at Fort Campbell the following August. His awards and decorations include, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon and the Combat Action Badge. He died at age 21 in Kunar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with small arms fire. He leaves his son, Noah, his mother and stepfather, Renee and Robert Cross, his father, Steven A. Salmon, a brother, Steven, and two sisters, Kelsi and Katie.
