Pfc Robert Kelsey L. Repkie
Pfc. Robert K. L. Repkie of Knoxville, Tennessee attended Sweetwater High School before leaving to earn his GED. His goal was to have a career in the military and was determined to succeed despite facing challenges as a child. Kelsey was friendly, selfless, and thoughtful of others and he was always smiling. He joined the United States Army on August 19, 2008 and entered basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Upon completion of basic training, he attended Advanced Individual Training at Fort Lee, Virginia. He arrived at Fort Bragg on March 21, 2009, where he joined the 782nd Brigade Support Battalion and deployed to Afghanistan with the unit Aug. 22, 2009. His Awards and Decorations include, the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, the Global War on Terror Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon and the NATO Medal. Kelsey was due home during the summer of 2010 and had made plans to go camping with his family. He leaves his parents, Russell Repkie, USN retired and wife Susan, stepsister, Letisicia Loepp. He died at age 20 at Forward Operating Base Farah, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident.
