Pfc. Le Ron A. Wilson of Queens, New York was born abroad, in Trinidad and Tobago. At age 11 he moved to Springfield Gardens to be with his mom. Le Ron attended Thomas Edison High School and dreamed of a military career and enlisted after graduating. He left for training upon graduation. His father is a Cadet Force major in Trinidad and Tobago. Le Ron was only 13 years old when events of September 11th occurred. He never voted for a president and barely needed to shave. Nicknamed the Kodak Kid, he carried his camera everywhere and took pictures of everything. He twice won soldier of the month and finished training at the top of a battalion of 600. Among his Awards and Decorations are, the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the Combat Action Badge. LeRon was planning a trip to Japan during his leave and even talked about traveling the world someday. He always had a positive attitude and was always looking forward to the future, was always making plans. He was a “go-getter” and wanted to make a career of the military. He died at age 18 in Iraq of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.
