Pfc John E. Andrade, Sr

Born: July 3, 1991 in Bexar County, Texas
Died: August 7, 2010 in Afghanistan

Pfc. John E. Andrade of San Antonio, Texas attended Holmes High School, while living with his father, but graduated from a high school in Killeen while staying with his mother. He enlisted in the service in August of 2009 where he was assigned as a Stryker driver. John deployed to Afghanistan in June of 2010 and was looking forward to getting back home for two weeks in December to celebrate his son’s first birthday. He leaves his wife, Elizabeth, his son John, his parents, Betty Jean and Paul Martinez, and Cesar E. and Juanita Andrade, siblings, Chris Valadez, Jennifer and Rosanna Andrade, Pablo and Samuel Martinez, Madeline, Alex, and Anthony Andrade. He died at age 19 at DE Khak Chupan Turah, Kandahar, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device.
