Gunnery Sgt Phillip Andrew Jordan

Gunnery Sgt. Phillip A. Jordan of Enfield, Connecticut enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in November of 1987 at age 27. He served as an Instructor at Marine Corps Base in Camp Pendleton, and most recently he completed a tour as a Drill Instructor in Parris Island, South Carolina. His tours of duty included Desert Storm, Kosovo and Afghanistan. His awards include, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Gold Star, Coast Guard Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, NATO Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Southwest Asia Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Marine Corps Drill Instructor Ribbon, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Navy Unit Commendation, Certificates of Commendation, Meritorious Masts and Letters of Appreciation. GSgt Jordan was killed at age 42 in action near Nasiriyah, Iraq. He was posthumously promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. He leaves his wife, Amanda, and his son, Tyler Reece. He was preceded in death by his father, Sammy R. Jordan and his stepmother.
