Lance Cpl. Stroud was assigned to 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, as a combat engineer. Jonathan attended Cashion High School in Cashion, Oklahoma, graduating in 2007 where teachers remember him as exceptionally intelligent with superior skills in reading and writing. He joined the Marines on April 14, 2008 and was awarded numerous medals and honors to include: Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, National Defense Services Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

Burial: Cashion Cemetery, Cashion, Oklahoma
