Lance Cpl Zachary Douglas TenBrook

Lance Cpl Zachary D. Tenbrook, of Middlebury, Indiana is the son of Doug and Kim Marschke TenBrook and was a graduate of Northridge High School where he played sousaphone and drums in the marching band. He attended Pathway Assembly of God, Middlebury. Zachary joined the Marine Corps to serve his country, improve his life and help others. He was from 3rd Supply Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, in Okinawa but was assigned as an ammunition technician to Kaneohe-based Headquarters and Service Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment. His awards include the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. Zachary died at age 21 at Robert E. Bush Naval Hospital in Twentynine Palms of injuries sustained when the flat-bed truck in which he was a passenger rolled over. His awards included the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and a Meritorious Mast. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are two brothers, Michael and Derrek TenBrook, one sister, Chelsea TenBrook and grandparents Jerry and Flo TenBrook; Sandy Ridenour; and Bill Marschke. He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Steve Ridenour. Zachary died at age 21 at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center at Twentynine Palms from injuries suffered when his flatbed truck rolled during a training exercise in preparation for deployment to Afghanistan.
Burial is at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Middlebury, Indiana
