Lance Cpl Samuel Tapia

Lance Cpl. Samuel Tapia of San Benito, Texas graduated from San Benito High School in 2004 and knew that he wanted to enlist in the United States Marine Corps as soon as he could. Three months later, he did just that. It’s something he had wanted to do since childhood. Throuhout his life, he was a Member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. While working at the Fast food restaurant, Whataburger, he met his future wife, Jacqueline. He knew he would be sent to Iraq with his Marine unit, and he wanted to get married and start a family before his deployment. The couple had a daughter, Samantha and all he wanted was her to be well taken care of. He died at age 20 from small-arms fire while conducting combat operations in Ar Ramadi, Iraq. It was his daughter’s first birthday. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline, a daughter, Samatha, his parents Federico and Nazaria Sanchez, a brother Jose, and a sister Elizabeth.
