Lance Cpl Ross S. Carver

Died: September 3, 2010 in Helmand, Afghanistan
Lance Cpl. Ross S. Carver of Rocky Point, North Carolina is a 2007 graduate of E. A. Laney High School where he participated in the Reserves Officers Training Corps. Ross realized his longtime desire to join the military when he enlisted soon after graduation. His inspiration to serve came from his older brother who was also serving in the Marines. Ross completed his training in Parris Island, South Carolina. He leaves his wife, Brandy, his son, William, his father and stepmother, Douglas and Jessica Carver, his mother, Angie Welgatt, three brothers, Robert, Dalton and Jordan, and a sister, Annie. He died at age 21 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
