Lance Cpl. Omar G. Roebuck of Moreno Valley, California, enlisted in the Marine Corps to better his life. He grew up the much-loved son of his father John, who had raised Omar and a daughter by himself the last 11 years. Omar wished his military service would enable him to gain college money and training; he really wanted to be a helicopter pilot for the California Highway Patrol. Omar had four things in his life he loved more than anything: his family, boxing, stunt bikes and being a United States Marine. Omar was very close to the couple that loved next door. He called her Mom out of respect and admiration. She provided Omar with one of his other loves in life, enchiladas.  Omar was assigned to 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, based at Camp Lejeune, N.C. He was working as a diesel mechanic on a new assault tank in Helmand province, Afghanistan, when an accident happened and Omar died as a result.

Burial: Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California.
