Lance Cpl Noah Miles Pier

Lance Cpl. Noah M. Pier of Charlotte, North Carolina was born the oldest of ten children. His family moved to Charlotte in 1995. As a teenager he was involved in the Police Explorers Program at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. He also loved American Freestyle Martial Arts and earned a black belt rank. He finally realized his longtime dream of serving in the military when he joined the Marine Corps in August of 2007. He was currently serving as a machine gunner. His unit deployed to Afghanistan in November 2009, joining Regimental Combat Team 7. He had previously deployed to Iraq. Noah was looking forward to coming home from his tour in Afghanistan to marry his childhood sweetheart, Rachel Black. His awards include the Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Afghanistan and Iraq Campaign Medals and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. Noah fell in love with his childhood sweetheart Rachel, whom he was to marry when he returned home. He died at age 25 while supporting combat operations. Noah is survived by his parents, Mark and Vikki Pier; his fiancée, Rachel Black; his brothers and sisters, Erin, Katti, and Tara, Mark Jr., Shawn, Luke, Nathan, Jacob and Ethan.
