Cpl Jacob Matthew Pfister

Cpl. Jacob M. Pfister of Buffalo, New York grew up in Buffalo and Evans but moved to Florida after joining the Army. He was a serious man who loved his family. He attended Grover Cleveland High School, where he played tight end on the football team and received a citizenship award at graduation. He attended the University at Buffalo, where he also played on the football team, and Buffalo State College. He left Buffalo State to enlist in the Army. He is survived by his wife, who was expecting their first child in June 2005. He also leaves his mother, Amy MacGregor. He died at age 27 in Baghdad, Iraq, when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his dismounted patrol. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart and was promoted to corporal.
