Died: June 6, 2010 in Helmand Province, Afghanistan

Cpl. Donald M. Marler of St. Louis, Missouri was a 2006 graduate of Oakville High School where he played basketball. The son of David Marler Sr. and Susan Florian Marler had always wanted to join the Marine Corps and he was currently serving his first combat deployment. Prior to deployment he served in the Presidential Security detail at Camp David, where he guarded President George W. Bush and President Barak Obama. His Awards and Decorations include, the Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and a Presidential Service Certificate from President Barack Obama. In addition to his parents, he leaves, his sister Jennifer, and teo brothers David and Jacob. He died at age 22 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. Also killed were Sgt. Brandon C. Bury and Lance Cpl. Derek Hernandez.
