Spc. Wilbel Alexander Robles-Santa

Born: February 18, 1988 in Juncos Municipality, Puerto Rico
Died: April 6, 2013 in Kandahar, Afghanistan

Spc. Wilbel A. Robles Santa, 25, of Juncos, Puerto Rico, died April 6 in Kandahar, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their unit in Zabul, Afghanistan with a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armor Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga. He joined the Army in October of 2010. This was his second deployment. Spc Robles-Santa was on his second deployment and was serving as a cavalry scout in Afghanistan. On April 6th, he was working to help guard a convoy when a car bomb blast went off near him. He died from his wounds. The suicide bombing also killed a young American diplomat and a Defense Department civilian worker. Among those surviving Wilbel are his wife, Kimberly; and two young children; his mother, Maribel Santa-Rivera and his brother, Wilberto. Sgt. Luis A. Oliver Galbreath

Died: August 16, 2012 in Kandahar, Afghanistan

Sgt. Luis A. Oliver Galbreath, 41, of San Juan, Puerto Rico died at age 41 in a helicopter crash northeast of Kandahar, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 25th Aviation Regiment, 25th Combat Aviation Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Luis joined the Army January 25, 2003 and became a UH-60 Helicopter Repairer December 4, 2003. Sergeant Oliver-Galbreath's awards and decorations include the Air Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal and the Army Aviation Badge. Sgt. Jose J. Reyes

Sgt. Jose J. Reyes, 24, San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico died July 18, in Ghazni City, Afghanistan, when his vehicle was struck by an enemy improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 548th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y. Reyes joined the Army in February 2010. After training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, he arrived at Fort Drum in May 2010 and deployed with his unit in Support of Operation Enduring Freedom in April 2012. His awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal, two Army Achievement Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Non Commissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, the Combat Action Badge, and five Certificates of Achievements. He also completed Combatives Level 1 course, the Combat Life Savers course, the Warrior Leadership Course, and the Motor Vehicle Traffic Management and Accident Prevention course.

Sgt. Rafael E. Bigai Baez

Sgt. Rafael E. Bigai Baez of San Juan, Puerto Rico died at age 28 in Wardak, province, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Polk, La. He joined the Army in October 2003. He arrived at Fort Polk in June, 2010. Bigai Baez deployed to Kuwait from December 2004 to December 2005. He deployed to Afghanistan with his unit in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in October 2010. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal, three Army Achievement Medals, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, two Overseas Service Ribbons, the NATO Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He completed the Warrior Leadership Course and the Combatives Level 1 course.

Pfc Gil Isai Morales Del Valle

Died: August 3, 2011 in Wardak, Afghanistan

Pfc. Gil I. Morales-Del Valle of Jacksonville, Florida joined the United States Army in February of 2010. After training at Fort Benning, Georgia, he arrived at Fort Polk in June of 2010. He deployed with his unit the following October in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. His awards and decorations include, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the NATO Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon and the Combat Infantryman Badge. Isai died at age 21 in Wardak province, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device. He leaves his mother and stepfather, Gladys Del Valle and Renes Perez, his father, Gil E. Morales, his sister, Kiara Crystal Perez, longtime girlfriend, Narim Alim among others. Spc Marcos A. Cintron-Torres

Died: June 16, 2011 in Boston, Massachusetts

Spc. Marcos A. Cintron of Orlando, Florida joined the United States Army in February of 2010 serving as a cannon crew member. The 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team deployed to Iraq in November of 2010, and served as the 2nd Advise and Assist Brigade, supporting the development of Iraq Security Forces and the improvement of civil capacity in central Iraq. He died at age 32 at a medical facility in Boston, Massachusetts of wounds suffered June 6 at Baghdad, Iraq, when insurgents attacked his unit with indirect fire. He is the sixth soldier to die from a June 6 attack that also took the lives of Spc. Emilio Campo, Pfc. Michael Cook, Pfc. Christopher Fishbeck, Spc. Robert Hartwick, and Pfc. Michael Olivieri. Spc Cintron had been medically evacuated from Iraq following the attack where he died in a Boston medical facility.

Sgt. Louie A. Ramos Velazquez of Camuy, Puerto Rico joined the United States Army in December 2006 arriving at Fort Campbell in September 2007. His awards and decorations include: Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal; Air Assault Badge; Parachutist Badge and Pathfinder Badge. He died at age 39 of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device in Kandahar province, Afghanistan.

Staff Sgt Jose M. Caraballo Pietri

Died: April 10, 2011 in Badghis, Afghanistan

Staff Sgt. Jose M. Caraballo-Pietri of Yauco, Puerto Rico served three years in the United States Army and deployed to Afghanistan on February of 2011. Among his awards are, the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart medal. He was posthumously promoted to Staff Sgt. He died at age 32 in Badghis province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire. He leaves his wife, Carol, his mother, Alicia Pietri, a brother, Abner Caraballo, and many others.
