Spc Wright was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Washington. On January 12, he was on a Stryker Brigade Combat Team and was driving an armored vehicle when it rolled over an explosive.
