Spc Alexander J. Miller

Died: July 31, 2009 in Nuristan province, Afghanistan
Spc. Alexander J. Miller of Clermont, Florida attended East Ridge High School and enlisted in the United States Army in January of 2007. After completing training at Fort Benning, Georgia, he went to Fort Drum in June of 2007. His Awards and Decorations include, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the NATO Medal and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge. Alexander always put others before himself. He leaves his mother, Sue Miller, maternal grandmother, Geraldine Sakmar, his brother, Richard Miller, and half brothers, John Miller and Jason Grove. Alex died at age 21 of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his unit with rocket-propelled grenades and small-arms fire.
