Death: April 15, 2002 – Kandahar, Afghanistan
Sgt Maugans was assigned to 710th Explosive Ordnance Detachment, San Diego, California. Maugans, an ordnance disposal specialist, was one of four U.S. servicemen killed while disposing of explosives near Kandahar. Jamie graduated from Derby High School and attended the University of Kansas and Cowley County Community College before joining the Army.
