Pfc John D. Hart of of Bedford, Massachusetts was a graduate of Bedford High School where he was co-captain of his high school rifle team He also participated in the Reserve Officer’s Training Corps all four years of high school, and he spoke frequently about his commitment to serve the nation, especially after the events of September 11, 2001. He was killed at age 20 in when enemy forces ambushed his patrol using rocket propelled grenades and small arms fire. A hail of bullets felled Hart while he fought from his Humvee. When he died, all his ammunition had been spent. He leaves his parents, Brian and Alma Hart.
