Spc Avila was assigned to the 1343rd Chemical Company, 151st Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Battalion, 115th Fires Brigade of the Alabama National Guard, Fort Payne, Alabama, as an infantryman. He died of injuries sustained from a non-combat related accident. Adrian attended Opelika High School and then enlisted in the National Guard in 2007.
